PLASMA-BOTICS STEM Program

We are more than a STEM program!

 PLASMA-BOTICS

PLASMA-BOTICS IS MORE THAN A STEAM PROGRAM!

Picture
  1. PLASMA-BOTICS, created by Dr. Darlyne de Haan, is more than a STEAM program. It is a unique program for students from Kindergarten to grade 12 that combines STEAM and Robotics!
Learn Coding, Build Robotics and Compete in Robotics Competitions!
  • Learn and experience being a CSI/Forensic Scientist!
  • Curious about the music industry? Learn what it takes to be a Music Engineer (Music and Video Production).
  • Get hands-on experience with music engineering software as you move from beginner programs to the programs of the pros!

We develop the Whole Child

PLASMA-BOTICS (PLAying with Science, MAth and RoBOTICS) is an innovative program that minimizes the fear and negative stigma often associated with STEM [Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math] and will increase the low numbers of minority students of color, females, and students of low-socioeconomic status by demonstrating STEM’s application in the real-world.
PLASMA-BOTICS students work directly with robotics, video and music production and many of the science fields. These opportunities and experiences provided through PLASMA-BOTICS directly places
students of color, and females—particularly those from low-income families and schools—who are disproportionately excluded or dropped from the STEM pipeline at formative moments in their academic trajectories on a trajectory to avoid the “Leaky Pipeline”.  The "Leaky Pipeline" is a metaphor for students’ disproportionate exit from participation in a STEM content area throughout school and college, resulting in their underrepresentation in STEM careers*.

PLASMA-BOTICS will be crucial in keeping this population in the pipeline.

Students who attend the PLASMA-BOTICS program learn to make the connections of math and science of the Real World!

PLASMA-BOTICS develops student self-confidence by exposing students to lifelong skills that exist beyond the school building walls like collaboration, critical thinking,
self improvement by self-analysis , and accepting critique from others.
